I love all the research, Shea! And Efrain and David, you guys are perfect foils to each other. You have a great mix of respect, irreverence, wit, exploration and understanding. It is clear you love Tori and her work. Your podcasts are a gift, in a way, to help us understand her lyrics and artistic choices, while kind of realizing how kooky and impenetrable it all can be. I like how you temper the “studying” you do with some lightness and clever banter. It helps me to me not to take her so seriously, which I am inclined to do. She is a saving grace for me and I can get emotionally attached! You guys sound like so many of my friends here in NY but I don’t have any who have the same deep interest in her work. In my experience there can sometimes be an unspoken competition with “fans.” (“I like her more,” “I found her first.” “My understanding is more profound,” etc…) I found myself laughing and verbally talking back to you in agreement or saying “ooooohhhhhh” when you reveal info I didn’t know. Looking forward to more, as the late nineties right after Pele (where you are in the podcast catalogue as I become a “patron”) was when I really had an epiphany about her. Wow wow wow.
